Piers Morgan was left stunned after Indiana Democratic candidate Jaime West revealed she guzzled “three beers” before her viral interview where she pledged to fire all Republicans and stated: “We have guns, too.”

West, who is running for a seat on the Fayette County Council this Election Day, argued on Piers Morgan Uncensored Monday that she “wasn’t that intoxicated” during her slurring and stuttering interview on a local TV forum earlier this month.

“A lot of people assumed you might have had a drink before you did that interview. Did you?” Morgan asked the Democratic hopeful, to which she replied: “I had a Coors Light. I had a beer.”

Morgan pressed her further, prompting her to admit that she had “a couple” of beers.

“I was nervous! I was going into a room full of Republicans!” West exclaimed.

Morgan then gave West a “chance to be completely honest and transparent” and tell the truth about how many drinks she consumed before the seemingly drunken conversation.

“Alright, three. Three beers. What do you want me to say, man? I had three beers,” West revealed to a stunned Morgan.

However, the candidate insisted that she “wasn’t that intoxicated” and still knows “what I’m talking about.” She also insisted to Morgan that she was sober while speaking to him.

Morgan noted that West said “some very inflammatory things about Republicans,” including that she wants to fire them all and calling them “racist and dumb.” When asked whether she wished to retract anything, West declined.

“I say it all the time: I’m not friends with [Republicans]. I don’t like them. They voted for all of this that’s happening in our country,” West told Morgan.

West came to national attention earlier this month after clips of her blunt, bizarre interview responses went viral online. The local TV forum featured candidates for Fayette County Commission, Fayette County School Corp. and the county council.

During the forum, she made bold declarations, including that her most unpopular policy she’d pursue if elected would be to fire all Republicans. West clarified that “there’s Republicans who actually get it, you know? There are good Republicans out there,” she said, but added, “then there’s MAGA.”

“What do you want me to say. I don’t like being around them,” she said. “[They’re] just racist and aren’t very intelligent at all. They call you names.”

When asked for her final words to voters, West simply stated: “We have guns, too,” referring to Democrats.

West does not have an official campaign website or contact information listed online. She acknowledged the amount of attention she has received when asked to comment by IndyStar.

“My recent appearance on TV3 has unexpectedly brought a lot of attention, which has been a bit overwhelming,” West said.“I am deeply concerned about the current political climate in Indiana.”
