Over 82% of Donetsk People’s Republic residents voted in State Duma elections

DONETSK, September 23. /TASS/. A total of 82.14% of registered voters in the Donetsk People’s Republic cast their ballot either during the early vote, or during the main electoral period, the chair of the region’s election committee, Vladimir Vysotsky, has told reporters in Donetsk.

"The overall turnout in our federal district stood at 82.14%," he said.

Elections of the 9th State Duma took place during the three-day voting period from September 18 to 20. For the first time, residents of the Donbass and Novorossiya regions participated in the elections. Ten parties were included in the electoral lists for the federal constituency: United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR), New People, A Just Russia – For Truth, the Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, the Communists of Russia, Rodina, the Party of Direct Democracy as well as the Greens Ecological Party.

Concurrently, elections were held for the legislative assemblies of 39 regions, as well as for the heads of constituent entities of Russia: direct elections in eight regions and elections by regional parliaments in three. In total, approximately 23,000 seats were up for election.
