Netanyahu seeks ICC case against Erdogan over Kurds, Hamas

TEL AVIV, September 27. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed his government to prepare a filing with the International Criminal Court (ICC) accusing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of wrongdoing, i24News reported.
According to the channel’s sources, the prime minister instructed an interagency team to compile allegations against Erdogan concerning his actions toward Turkey’s Kurdish population and Ankara’s alleged financing of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. The channel noted that the instruction followed Erdogan’s statement that he intended to ask Interpol to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu.
According to i24News, Israel could file the case with the Hague-based court on its own behalf or use another country as an intermediary. Neither Israel nor Turkey is a party to the Rome Statute, and neither recognizes the ICC’s jurisdiction.
Netanyahu’s office has yet to comment on the claims.
In November 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Israel rejected the charges, but the international arrest warrant for Netanyahu remains in force.
