International observers to monitor elections in Russian border regions — official

MOSCOW, September 18. /TASS/. International observers have expressed a wish to monitor elections in Russia’s border regions, including Kursk and Belgorod, as well as the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Central Election Commission (CEC) Chair Ella Pamfilova said.
"I would like to give credit to international observers who will particularly travel to our border regions, Kursk and Belgorod. Some have expressed a wish to see how voting is going in the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic, in spite of the aggressive position that Western countries have taken," she noted.
"They expressed such a desire and we provided them with an opportunity to travel there, ensuring the necessary security measures," Pamfilova stressed.
According to her, international observers will receive all the information that is required to make an objective picture of how elections in Russia are organized even in extreme conditions. Pamfilova emphasized that maximum security would be provided to all those involved in the election process.
More than 1,100 international observers from 133 countries are present at the Russian parliamentary elections, having beaten the record set during the 2024 presidential vote.
