Health situation in Russia’s Irkutsk Region remains stable — health watchdog

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Irkutsk Region remains calm, the press service of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) reported.

"The sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Irkutsk Region, as well as in the cities of Irkutsk and Shelekhov, remains calm," the agency said.

Earlier, rumors circulated online that an employee of an anti-plague institute in the Irkutsk Region had allegedly been diagnosed with plague. Rospotrebnadzor later said that the woman had been diagnosed with pneumonia of unknown etiology.
