CIS observers note fair and open nature of Russia’s State Duma elections

MINSK, September 25. /TASS/. The elections to the State Duma were conducted at a high organizational level and were fair and open, according to a declaration by the CIS observer mission.

"The CIS observer mission concludes that the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (ninth convocation) were conducted at a high organizational level and in full compliance with the electoral legislation of the Russian Federation; were fair, open, and competitive, and adhered to generally recognized principles for holding democratic elections; and ensured the exercise of the right of Russian citizens to freely express their will," the statement published on the website of the Commonwealth's Executive Committee said.

The elections for deputies to the 9th State Duma took place during the single voting period from September 18 to 20.
