Yak-130M’s data transmission system exchanges data with other aircraft

IRKUTSK, September 28. /TASS/. The new data transmission system installed on the Yak-130M aircraft allows for data exchange not only via voice communication but also between aircraft and with ground control, Alexander Guskov, a test pilot at PJSC Yakovlev, told reporters.

"The aircraft is equipped with a new communications system. It will enable data transmission not only via voice–as in a standard radio link–but also data exchange between aircraft and with ground control. In principle, this means receiving real-time information, real-time mission assignments regarding target designation, and data exchange between aircraft," he said.

Guskov added that although the aircraft underwent a complete modernization, it also affected its onboard navigation system. However, he said, continuity was maintained, and the pilot will not notice any major changes when switching from the Yak-130 to its modernized version. "What has improved: its speed will be higher, and its capabilities will be greater as a result," the test pilot emphasized. He noted that the modernized aircraft will be capable of engaging both ground and air targets.
