HANOI, October 12. /TASS/. Vietnam has always attached great importance to strengthening and developing its traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang said at a meeting with a delegation from Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) led by its director, Arkady Gostev, in Hanoi.
The Vietnamese minister of Public Security said Vietnam seeks to strengthen cooperation in security and law enforcement by building political trust, improving coordination and reinforcing the long-standing ties between the two countries. He was quoted by the Vietnam News Agency as saying that such cooperation should be reliable, substantive and effective.
Quang discussed the current security and law enforcement situation. He noted that transnational criminal groups, organized crime, high-tech crime and emerging forms of crime, including offenses involving foreign nationals, pose numerous challenges to both countries. These challenges require the Vietnamese and Russian authorities to continue enhancing coordination, exchanging information and expertise, and improving cooperation in security and law enforcement, including the enforcement of criminal judgments, he said.
The director of Russia’s FSIN, in turn, praised the traditional friendship between Moscow and Hanoi and the positive results of cooperation between the Russian government and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in recent years. Gostev reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to expanding ties between the two agencies, particularly through the exchange of expertise in correctional facility management, prisoner education and rehabilitation, and staff training, thereby further deepening security and law enforcement cooperation between the two countries.
