Billionaire Jeff Bezos had a warning for politicians who are “picking villains and pointing fingers” ahead of the midterm elections.
The Amazon founder, who has cozied up to President Donald Trump during his second term, sat down with Fox News’ Bret Baier at Blue Origin’s command center in a segment that aired Wednesday, where he defended his fellow billionaires.
Baier asked Bezos why socialism is “taking off” in some parts of the U.S. He answered that the country is facing “real affordability problems,” and pointed to housing as an example.
The second-richest man in the world then launched a defense of landlords. “It’s very common for, in the case of housing, for certain politicians to point at landlords and say, ‘this is the fault of greedy landlords.’ This isn’t what is going on,” he said.
Without referring to a specific politician or political party, Bezos said that some are governing “correctly” on housing, while others are not.

Bezos added that if anyone was working at one of his several enterprises and “all they did was point fingers and blame people,” they “wouldn’t be in our company for long.”
Dozens of viewers commented that Bezos’s warning could also be applied to the president.
“Not disagreeing with the premise here but I’m just wondering if Mr. Bezos realizes who is in the White House right now, and how he got there,” commented Amy McGrath, a retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel and former Kentucky Senate candidate.
“He’s literally describing the guy he sucks up to in the Oval Office,” another person commented.
“So Bezos is saying don’t vote Trump?” someone else asked.
“Does he realize he’s talking about trump?” another said.
During the interview, Bezos also took the opportunity to defend billionaires, saying that “success is not villainy.”
“Some people have been taught incorrectly that this whole oppressor-oppressed framework and that success is villainy,” he said. “Success is not villainy.”
He used the example of Raising Cane’s, the fast-food chicken chain founded by billionaire Todd Graves in Louisiana, 1996, that has since grown to nearly 1,000 locations across 44 states.
“There’s nothing wrong with making unbelievably good chicken that people love,” Bezos said.
