The beloved Southern breakfast chain, Biscuitville, has earned the title of America’s best fast-food breakfast, beating out bigger national chains for the fourth year in a row.

The restaurant chain, which operates just 90 locations across three states, earned the number one spot on USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Biscuitville placed ahead of some of the most popular fast food chains, including McDonald’s (No. 4), Chick-fil-A (No. 5), Burger King (No. 6) and Wendy’s (No. 7).

The regional chain is known for its traditional Southern breakfast made with fresh local ingredients — including biscuits baked from scratch every 15 minutes from a family recipe. The biscuits are served in a variety of ways, including with bacon, egg and cheese, or fried chicken, as well as part of more elaborate breakfast sandwiches. Customers can also enjoy other Southern staples like grits and country gravy.

Biscuitville’s chief marketing officer Kristie Mitchell told Fox News Digital that the recognition is meaningful because of the fierce competition in the fast-food breakfast space.

“We have earned it, but we don’t want to live in a space where we come to expect it,” Mitchell said.

The family-owned company recently opened its 90th restaurant and currently operates in just North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

However, Biscuitville hopes to soon expand into other states, including Tennessee and Georgia, Mitchell told the outlet.

While the chain is best known for its biscuits made from scratch — every item that comes out of its kitchen is also prepared fresh. That means eggs are being cracked and whisked, and nothing is getting put in the microwave.

“We have no microwaves,” Mitchell said. “There’s no instant anything in our kitchens.”

The company’s commitment to freshness may mean that customers have to wait just a bit longer for their food to arrive — compared to a typical fast food drive thru— but Mitchell says the result couldn’t be more worth it.

“We get comments all the time from our feedback line that say, ‘Your biscuit tastes just like my grandmother’s biscuit,” she said.

The lasting popularity of the traditional Southern breakfast goes beyond the biscuit.

“Yes, we are Biscuitville, but it’s bigger than just the biscuit,” Mitchell said. “It’s all the things that go between that biscuit.”
