MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. The Thai Ministry of Finance is holding consultations on a bill to introduce a departure fee of 1,000 baht ($30) for all passengers flying out of the country, The Nation newspaper reported.

Public hearings on this matter will continue until October 29, the news outlet said. The bill stipulates setting of a base fee totaling 1,000 baht ($30) for those departing by air. The legislative ceiling of the charge is set as 5,000 baht ($150), making its possible to increase its amount in the future without the need for passing a new law through the parliament. The persons leaving Thailand overland or by sea will be exempt from the fee at the first phase.

The collection of the fee is planned to be delegated to airlines, which will include it in the ticket price at the time of booking. Children under the age of two, transit passengers, aircraft crewmembers, and official government delegations are expected to be exempt from the fee.
