Russia’s Dan-T munition blurs line between UAVs, cruise missiles — Rostec

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Russia’s newest loitering munition, the Dan-T, combines the firepower of a cruise missile with the maneuvarability of a drone, the state corporation Rostec reported.
"In fact, a classic cruise missile is already a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). However, not every fixed-wing UAV is a cruise missile. Nevertheless, in the new S-71M, S-71K, and Dan-T models, this distinction is blurred. These systems are specially designed to perform the functions of cruise missiles and possess the corresponding precision, maneuverability, and range. "At the same time, they are significantly cheaper than conventional missiles," Rostec told the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
The state corporation specified that as drone production technologies continue to mature, the difference between such drones and cruise missiles themselves will become increasingly less noticeable.
Rostec told TASS that the effectiveness of the Dan-T system has been confirmed by hundreds of successful launches against enemy targets in the special military operation zone. The system is designed for use from aircraft and helicopters, including foreign ones, and as a result, strong interest in this munition from foreign countries is expected.
The latest unmanned platforms, the S-71M and S-71K, are designed to be launched from fifth-generation fighter jets, including the Su-57.
