Russian forces deliver massive strike on Ukraine’s defense enterprises

MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. Russian forces delivered a massive strike on metals plants, a transformer factory and an energy site in Krivoi Rog, Zaporozhye and Zhitomir, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"Last night, the Russian Armed Forces delivered a massive strike by ground-based, airborne and sea-launched precision-guided weapons and attack unmanned aerial vehicles on metallurgical enterprises, a transformer factory and an energy site in the cities of Krivoi Rog, Zaporozhye and Zhitomir in Ukraine," the ministry said in a statement.
Russian forces struck the Zaporozhstal metals giant in Zaporozhye integrated into the group of companies of Ukrainian billionaire entrepreneur Rinat Akhmetov. The plant's products were largely used for the needs of Ukraine’s military industry, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"The strike hit the Zaporozhstal metals works, Ukraine’s largest metallurgical enterprise. It makes part of SCM Group of Rinat Akhmetov. Previously, the plant’s annual output amounted to 1.44 million metric tons of pig iron and over 1.3 million metric tons of rolled steel. The products were largely used for the needs of the military industry," the ministry said in a statement.
Russian forces struck the Zaporozhtransformator enterprise in Zaporozhye that produced oil-filled power transformers under the management of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"In the city of Zaporozhye, the strike hit <…> the industrial enterprise Zaporozhtransformator PJSC that produced 220-750 kV oil-filled power transformers. Since 2022, the plant has been managed by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and used for the needs of the Ukrainian army," the ministry said in a statement.
Russian forces struck a metals plant in Krivoi Rog engaged in supplies for the Ukrainian military-industrial sector, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"In Krivoi Rog, the strike hit a metals plant – Ukraine’s largest metallurgical enterprise supplying metals products to the Ukrainian military-industrial sector," the ministry said in a statement.
Russian forces struck a sea vessel delivering military cargo to Ukraine’s Odessa port, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"The strike hit a dry cargo ship at sea delivering military cargo to the Odessa port," the ministry said in a statement.
Russian forces struck a substation in Zhitomir that distributed electrical power to Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported.
"In Zhitomir, the strike hit a substation engaged in distributing power from Ukraine’s western to central regions to provide for the operation of Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises," the ministry said in a statement.
