Lavrov-Wadephul meeting no sign of bid to restore dialogue on Berlin’s part — MFA

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. There are no grounds to view German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul’s meeting with top Russian diplomat Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly as an indication of Berlin’s readiness to restore dialogue with Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"German Foreign Minister Wadephul, who took the initiative in requesting a meeting with [Lavrov] on the sidelines of the [UN General Assembly’s] High-Level Week, chose to read out a set of accusatory points against Russia rather than exchange views. Those points are already well known because the German leadership voices them regularly. The ministerial meeting was indeed the first in four and a half years. There are no grounds to regard it as a full-fledged indication of readiness to restore constructive and mutually respectful dialogue," the diplomat said.
