California Governor Gavin Newsom has added fuel to his feud with podcaster Joe Rogan, calling him a “bull**** artist” and claiming that he is too scared to have him on his show.
Rogan, who hosted President Donald Trump shortly before the 2024 election, has repeatedly blasted Newsom on his show, claiming his policies have ruined California.
When Los Angeles-based YouTuber Shelby Church asked Newsom whether he would appear on popular podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience and Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy, where former Vice President Kamala Harris appeared during her unsuccessful 2024 presidential run against Trump, the governor said Rogan “won’t have me on.”
Newsom said in the interview released this weekend that he has prided himself on “reaching out to the people I disagree with,” mentioning his chats with Fox News host Sean Hannity and the slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
open image in galleryBut Newsom claimed Rogan “doesn’t want to be confronted with the bull**** he spews, particularly in the political sense. He’s a bull**** artist in political terms.”
“I’m happy to confront him, but he won’t do it. Now, I’m not even interested because it’s been two years of him just bashing me on a weekly basis,” the Democratic governor added.
Last October, Rogan slammed Newsom on his show amid talks of the governor being a potential candidate for president in 2028.
“You can’t…ruin a state and say, ‘Guys, that was just practice. Once I get in as president, I’m gonna fix it,’” Rogan said.
open image in galleryThe podcaster called Newsom a “terrible” politician and a “good bull**** artist, claiming that the only reason he’s in office is that he doesn’t have any good competition.
“You have the highest unemployment. You have the highest homelessness,” Rogan said.
Newsom clapped back at Rogan in an X post at the time, calling him too chicken to have him on his show and “expose his listeners to the truth.” He added that California has the fourth-largest economy in the world and is No. 1 for Fortune 500 companies.
Rogan doesn’t identify as a Republican or Democrat, but he endorsed Trump in the 2024 election and had him on his show, which is widely viewed among young men.

But Rogan has also criticized Trump on several issues since the president took office, including the war in Iran and a massive immigration crackdown at home.
Earlier this month, Rogan ripped into Trump for changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” during an escalating trade war with Canada.
“It’s to distract you from the fact we are in a war we can’t win with Iran,” Rogan said on his show. “It doesn’t make any sense.”
“Who cares if it’s Lake Ontario? It’s a good name. We’ve had that name forever.”
