French journalist who launched inquest into Brigitte Macron’s sex reported dead

PARIS, September 18. /TASS/. Journalist Xavier Poussard reported the death of his French colleague Natacha Rey, the originator of the story that the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte, was born a man.

According to him, she died of cancer.

"It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Natacha Rey, which occurred on September 13 in Saintes (Charente-Maritime [department]) after her battle with cancer. Natacha Rey, who was one of the first to report about Brigitte Macron, will be buried today at 4 p.m. at the Saint-Palais cemetery in Saintes, following a mass that will begin at 2.30 p.m. at the Saint-Palais church," the journalist said in a post on X.

In September 2024, a Paris court fined two French women a total of 13,500 euros for spreading defamatory rumors that the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte, had allegedly been born male. In July 2025, a Paris court acquitted Natacha Rey in the case.
