Europe faces serious challenges — Rubio

NEW YORK, September 29. /TASS/. The US administration believes European countries are facing serious challenges, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News.
He was asked whether he agreed that Western European countries had grown weaker, that some of them lacked commitment to their own security and to NATO, and that they had allowed mass migration without assimilation. "I think Europe faces some big challenges. I gave a speech about that earlier this year in Munich at the Security Conference. And so much of what we have in our country is a legacy of Europe, whether it’s our traditions, our culture, even our democracy, and many of the things that underpin it come from there," he said.
Rubio recalled the migration crisis in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta in late July. "The truth is this: whether it’s in Europe or in the Western Hemisphere, the United States or whatever it may be, no country – no country in the world that’s responsible, governed by responsible people – can allow their borders to just be open and allow anyone that wants to come in to flood in. You can’t flood countries with migration. This is a country that was built on immigration," Rubio said.
