Digital ruble, cryptocurrency transactions available in Russia

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/. Transactions with the digital ruble and cryptocurrencies have been available in Russia since September 1, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"Since September 1 of this year, digital ruble transactions have been available in Russia. This is an important step toward developing a convenient, fast, and independent payment infrastructure in our country. This is not the only change. The circulation of cryptocurrencies has also become legal in the country starting from September 1. The relevant law was signed by the president," he said in an address to the Moscow Financial Forum.

In August, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that for the first time comprehensively regulates the circulation of digital currencies and digital rights in Russia, establishing rules for crypto exchanges, digital depositories, and market participants, as well as setting out the conditions under which investors may purchase cryptocurrencies.
