Court orders arrest in absentia of blogger Dud over interview with extremist leader

MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. A Moscow court has ordered the arrest in absentia of blogger Yury Dud (designated a foreign agent and listed as a terrorist and extremist) over an interview he posted online with Denis Kapustin, the leader of the Russian Volunteer Corps – a terrorist organization banned in the Russia, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia has said.
"The investigation established that no later than April 2026, while in the Republic of Moldova, Dud and Kapustin organized and conducted an interview in which they made verbal statements justifying and promoting terrorism. Subsequently, Dud published the video recording of the interview for public viewing on a YouTube channel he administers," the statement reads.
The Investigative Committee noted that, upon the motion of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee the court ordered the arrest in absentia of Dud and Kapustin, who are accused of justifying and promoting terrorism.
"Investigative and operational measures are currently underway in the criminal case to establish all the circumstances of the aforesaid crime," the statement says.
As lawyer Yana Teplyakova previously said, Dud could face up to seven years in prison in connection with the new case regarding calls for terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Last November, the magistrate court of Moscow’s Judicial Precinct No. 359 sentenced Dud to one year and ten months in a general security penal colony in absentia, finding him guilty of evading the obligations of a foreign agent.
