Hong Kong national security police have arrested two people, including the founder of online media outlet Boom News on suspicion of “incitement by spreading disinformation”, the South China Morning Post has learned
A source familiar with the matter said journalist Tang Ho-wing, the 37-year-old founder of Boom News, was apprehended at around 7am on Wednesday, along with one other person.
“The National Security Department has arrested two people on suspicion of incitement by spreading disinformation,” the source said, adding that the alleged crimes had taken place outside Prince Edward MTR station on August 31.
The arrests were linked to the apprehension of three others – two men and a woman – earlier this month for allegedly shouting seditious slogans and holding white flowers outside the station on the same date, the source said.
