MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence are capable of autonomously seeking and engaging targets based on pre-loaded data and coordinates, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has said.
"Drones with artificial intelligence have now emerged that are capable of autonomously seeking and engaging targets based on pre-loaded data and coordinates," he said in an interview with Politika magazine.
He noted that "everything on the battlefield appears quite suddenly," and at the start of the special military operation, it was necessary to constantly adopt countermeasures and determine which means to employ.
For instance, he explained, the initial phase saw the use of quadcopter-style drones for reconnaissance and dropping munitions.
"Today it has turned out that this is far from the primary issue; so-called FPV drones are far more dangerous. If we look at the current use of FPVs, we are employing them quite successfully," Yevkurov emphasized.
