Lavrov to take part in about 20 international meetings at UN, Russian diplomat tells TASS

MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Top Russian diplomat Sergey Lavrov will take part in about twenty international meetings at the UN, Russian Foreign Ministry’s International Organizations Department Director Kirill Logvinov told TASS in an interview ahead of the Russian delegation’s participation in the UN General Assembly High-Level Week.
"The schedule for the Russian delegation’s participation in side events during the High-Level Week will be finalized at the last minute, as relevant invitations continue to come in. To give you an idea of the scale, during our three-and-a-half-day stay in New York, nearly twenty high-level multilateral meetings have already been scheduled that are of interest in terms of coordinating positions and advancing Russia’s approaches," the diplomat noted.
According to Logvinov, the top priorities are undoubtedly the ministerial meetings with Russia’s allies within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on September 23 and with like-minded countries within the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter on September 24. "Both events confirm the participants’ interest in close coordination of actions on the international stage," the diplomat added.
Logvinov had previously reported that Lavrov would hold more than 30 bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. According to him, talks are being arranged with counterparts from Algeria, Brazil, Brunei, Venezuela, Guyana, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Cuba, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mali, the Republic of Maldives, Morocco, Mexico, Nicaragua, the UAE, Panama, Senegal, Serbia, Syria, Sudan, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, as well as representatives of the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS), the Arab League, and the Alliance of Sahel States. The diplomat noted that "the list also includes the leadership of the OSCE, the IAEA, and UN General Assembly President Khalilur Rahman."
