UK Lawyers for Israel Want Doctors Without Borders Branded a Terror Group

A group of pro-Israel lawyers is urging the UK government to label Doctors Without Borders a terrorist organisation over its work in Gaza.
UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) allege that the charity – which provides life-saving medical aid to people in warzones – has links to militant groups, and have called on home secretary Shabana Mahmood to proscribe the charity.
If acted on, the move would see the Nobel Peace prize-winning NGO – also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – categorised the same way as Isis in UK law. It would also make donating to or expressing support for the group a criminal offence.
Throughout its genocide in Gaza, Israel’s military has killed 15 MSF employees , as well as over 1,000 other humanitarian workers, according to the UN .
On Monday, MSF said Israel had bombed one of its buses, injuring one of 10 humanitarian workers on board. The bus was clearly marked as an MSF vehicle, the charity said in a statement.
“Once again, Israeli forces have shown a blatant disregard for the safety of humanitarian and medical personnel. Nowhere is safe in Gaza. Civilians, healthcare workers and humanitarian staff must be protected,” it added.
UKLFI allege links between people working for MSF in Palestine and militant organisations.
In a report shared with the home secretary, they note the example of Fadi Al-Wadiya, who worked as a physiotherapist with MSF and was killed in an airstrike by Israeli forces on Gaza City on 25 June 2024. In February 2026, the militant group Palestine Islamic Jihad stated that Al-Wadiya had been a member of the group.
MSF has denied any links to militant organisations in Palestine and said it had no knowledge of Al-Wadiya participating in military activity. It added that Israeli authorities never provided accurate information to the NGO about his alleged involvement.
The Israeli government has repeatedly claimed MSF has links with militant groups in Palestine and has looked to restrict the charity’s work within the occupied Palestinian territories, including by limiting imports of medicine and other supplies.
Earlier this year, Israel expelled MSF’s international staff from Gaza, along with people from other NGOs, saying they had failed to provide a list of names of individuals working for the charity.
In a piece published on MSF’s website in March, Rocío Simón Martínez, a nursing manager with MSF in Gaza, said the move to expel international staff “will have catastrophic consequences for people who depend almost entirely on humanitarian assistance”.
