Three people have been hospitalized as a massive swarm of bees invaded an Intel manufacturing campus in Arizona and terrorized employees.

Fire crews in Chandler, about a 30-minute drive southeast of Phoenix, raced to the Intel campus Monday morning following reports of one person with a “large amount of bee stings” and multiple people stung by the swarm, according to ABC15 Arizona.

Ten people were reportedly treated by first responders on campus, including three taken to the hospital in stable condition.

It’s unclear what caused the bees to become agitated.

Intel got its start in the late 1960s and soon after created the first microprocessor. It has since grown its global business and currently makes AI chips as demand for the technology grows.

The tech firm is based in Santa Clara, California, but has facilities across the country and across the world. Intel calls Arizona its “U.S. manufacturing powerhouse.”

In March 2021, Intel announced plans to build two new chip factories in Chandler, one of which is up and running. The company says it brings $10.7 billion into Arizona’s economy every year.

This is a developing story…
