MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected the Russian Curling Federation's and athletes' appeals against the decision to extend the suspension of Russian national teams from international competitions, the CAS press service told TASS.
According to it, both appeals filed by the Russian Curling Federation and Russian athletes on the participation in international competitions were rejected in a final decision issued on October 13.
In turn, Sports Minister and Russian Olympic Committee President Mikhail Degtyarev announced that the ROC and the Russian Curling Federation are preparing an appeal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court against the CAS decision.
On August 11, World Curling extended the suspension of Russian athletes through the end of 2026. The organization stated that it decided to extend the suspension after reviewing the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) recommendations, as well as feedback from its members and competition organizers.
Russia’s national curling teams have been suspended from international tournaments since 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine. However, in January 2026, Russia’s junior national teams were permitted to participate in international tournaments while displaying national symbols. In July, the IOC reinstated the ROC's membership and recommended that international federations lift restrictions on Russian athletes, including those in team competitions.
