NATO does not expect global conflict in Europe — NATO top commander

BRUSSELS, October 12. /TASS/. A global conflict in Europe is not inevitable, said NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich.

"Let me make one point very clear: I do not assess that conflict is imminent or inevitable. It is not," he told the Warsaw Security Forum. He pointed out that, on the contrary, the alliance will maintain contacts with all parties on the continent and strive to prevent direct clashes.

Grynkewich said that NATO has no intention of escalating the current situation, but will continue to strengthen its defense capabilities.
