DOHA, October 11. /TASS/. The Houthis of Yemen’s Ansar Allah rebel group have once again called on airlines to cancel flights to Saudi Arabia, declaring the country’s airports targets for strikes, the movement’s military spokesman Yahya Saria stated.
"The Yemeni armed forces (the Houthis – TASS) once again warn all airlines, staff, and travelers that using Saudi airports and airspace is unacceptable, as they are targets for strikes and a theater of military operations for our units, with the exception of the airports in Mecca and Medina," the spokesman wrote on his Telegram channel. Saria urged people to "take the warnings seriously," adding that Riyadh would be held responsible for the consequences of failed attempts to intercept missiles and drones. He also emphasized that the rebels will continue to adhere to the principle of "airport for airport, blockade for blockade, and escalation for escalation" until their goals are achieved.
The day before, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that at least 12 people were killed and 309 others were injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. According to The Wall Street Journal, Terminals 3 and 4 were significantly damaged after being directly hit by missiles, and airport operations were suspended. On October 8, the airport in the Saudi capital was attacked for the first time since tensions escalated, with the Houthis claiming responsibility.
