LONDON, October 5. /TASS/. Estonia is actively deploying troops to its border with Russia as part of its so-called active defense program, the Financial Times (FT) reported.

According to the newspaper, the Estonian army is relocating weaponry toward its eastern border, including systems capable of striking deep into Russian territory. At the same time, Estonia’s leadership believes that Moscow does not want a full-scale war with NATO countries "at least in the next two years."

According to the FT, the military is constructing a new base in the city of Narva on the border with Russia to accommodate up to 1,000 troops. In addition, Estonia bought nine HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems from the US last year.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the Estonian defense minister’s statements about readiness to fight Russia by saying that "the circus is gone, but the clowns remain." He also described such statements by the Estonian government as "utter nonsense, complete absurdity."
