Russian ombudswoman, Papal envoy discuss family reunions in Russia, Ukraine

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova discussed family reunions in Russia, Ukraine, and third countries with visiting Pope’s Special Envoy Cardinal Matteo Zuppi on Wednesday.

"Met with Papal envoy Cardinal Matteo Zuppi. The topic of family reunions which we are handling on instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin was central," the Russian ombudswoman wrote on Max channel.

Lvova-Belova recalled that over the past four years 32 children from 24 families have reunited with their relatives in Russia and another 145 children reunited with 118 families in Ukraine and third countries with assistance from her office.

Separately, Lvova-Belova continued, she told the cardinal about the situation with children in regions targeted by Ukrainian attacks. "We discussed further cooperation in the interests of children and their families. We are carrying out the work consistently, in the format of a bilateral group, with assistance from Russian Foreign Ministry officials," Lvova-Belova added.
