First post-election Duma meeting slated for September 30 — presidential decree

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has decreed for the new Duma to convene its first meeting next Wednesday.

"To convene the first meeting of the 9th State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly at 10:00 a.m. (Moscow time – 7:00 a.m. GMT) on September 30," the presidential decree reads.

The election to the 9th Russian State Duma took place on September 18-20. For the first time ever, residents of the recently incorporated Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, participated in legislative elections for the lower house of the Russian parliament. A total of ten parties were running in the election, namely the ruling United Russia party, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR), New People, A Just Russia – For Truth, the Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, the Communists of Russia, Rodina (Motherland), the Party of Direct Democracy, as well as the Greens Ecological Party.

United Russia received 349 seats, the CPRF got 37, the LDPR garnered 23, New People received 19, and A Just Russia – For Truth won 17, Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said as she announced the full and final election results on Friday. The Rodina party got one seat, and four went to independent candidates.
