FSB detains Moscow resident for planning to blow up motorcade with high-ranking official

MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Security service agents have detained a Moscow resident who was planning a terrorist attack, the Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for Moscow and the Moscow Region reported.

"The FSB Directorate for Moscow and the Moscow Region thwarted the criminal activities of a Moscow resident born in 1993. As a member of a terrorist organization, he planned to carry out a terrorist attack in the Moscow Region by detonating a vehicle belonging to the motorcade of a high-ranking Russian official," the statement said.

The man researched online how to use homemade explosives and then purchased components to manufacture an explosive device.

Criminal cases have been opened against the detainee under Articles 205.1 (Aiding Terrorist Activity), 205.4 (Participation in a Terrorist Organization), 223.1 (Illegal Manufacture of Explosives), 205.3 (Undergoing Training for Carrying Out Terrorist Activities), 282.2 (Participation in the Activities of an Extremist Organization), as well as 30 and 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (Preparation for a Terrorist Act).
