OANA agencies build cooperation on trust, TASS chief says

MOSCOW, September 21. /TASS/. Cooperation among news agencies that are members of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) is built on trust, which in turn is based on information, TASS Director General and OANA President Andrey Kondrashov said at a plenary session of a media forum dedicated to the organization’s 65th anniversary.

"Our cooperation is built on trust. Trust is built on information. When information is false, trust is destroyed," he said.

Kondrashov explained that the economy relies on mutual trade, investment and joint projects. "All of this requires stability and predictability, while disinformation destroys both," the TASS director general stressed.

That is why, he said, OANA should become a platform for developing common standards through dialogue among equals rather than standards imposed from outside.

The OANA media forum is being held in Moscow in the year marking the organization’s 65th anniversary. OANA brings together 41 news agencies from 33 countries. TASS is organizing the forum and holds the OANA chairmanship until 2028. TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov is the organization’s president, while TASS Deputy Director General Marat Abulkhatin is OANA’s secretary general.
