Homes damaged in southern Russia as air defenses down 629 drones overnight

MOSCOW, September 18. /TASS/. Air defenses shot down 629 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov overnight, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

More than 350 drones were detected flying toward the Moscow Region between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 17 and 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on September 18 (5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. GMT), Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said.

Over five private houses and eight apartment buildings were damaged in the southern Rostov Region, Governor Yury Slyusar said.

TASS has gathered the key information about the consequences of the attack.

– Air defenses shot down 629 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions last night, the Defense Ministry said.

– The drones were downed over the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tula, Krasnodar, Moscow and Adygea regions, as well as Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

– More than 350 drones were detected flying toward the Moscow Region between 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on September 17 and 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on September 18, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin wrote on the Max social media platform.

– He said that most of the drones had been shot down on distant approaches.

– Sixty-four drones were destroyed on the outskirts of Moscow, Sobyanin added.

– Air raid warnings have been issued in 30 Russian regions since midnight, according to TASS calculations.

– Air defenses shot down seven drones over the Kaluga Region, regional Governor Vladislav Shapsha said on Max.

– More than 50 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the Rostov Region last night, Governor Yury Slyusar wrote on Max.

– Air defenses destroyed 45 Ukrainian drones over the Tula Region last night, Governor Dmitry Milyayev said on Max.

– The windows of a private house were damaged in the city of Bataysk, Rostov Region, Slyusar said.

– In Azov, the windows, roofs and fences of five private houses were damaged, as well as four cars.

– Gas pipelines supplying four households were damaged, and gas supplies were suspended.

– Power lines were broken in two areas.

– In the Neklinovsky District, the roofs and windows of eight apartment buildings were damaged, along with four cars.

– Once emergency response teams have completed their work, administration officials will assess the damage, Slyusar added.

– Affected residents will be provided with the necessary assistance.

– Falling drone debris damaged two private houses in the Krasnodar Region, the regional crisis center said on Max.

– Besides, drone fragments also damage a school gym and a utility building.

– Emergency response personnel are working at the sites.
