TUNIS, October 20. /TASS/. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Majid Ebn al-Reza as his defense adviser, the presidential office said in a statement.

"By his decree, the president has appointed Majid Ebn al-Reza his national defense adviser," the statement reads.

Pezeshkian expressed hope that the new adviser "will contribute to achieving the government’s goals in the field and addressing the country’s challenges by proposing practical recommendations."

Majid Ebn al-Reza had served as acting Defense Minister since March 2, following the death of Aziz Nasirzadeh in a US-Israeli strike. On October 18, Mehrdad Akhlaghi was appointed Iran’s defense chief.
