BRUSSELS, October 17. /TASS/. A new wave of student protests, accompanied by sporadic clashes with police, swept through Brussels on Saturday, a TASS correspondent reported.
The unrest began after police blocked a column of several hundred school and university students because their march was not authorized.
Protestors refused to disperse and started throwing firecrackers and bottles at police, as well as launching fireworks in their direction.
Police immediately responded with water cannons and tear gas.
Following the arrival of police reinforcements, the column scattered into small groups that moved in all directions, leaving behind overturned trash bins, broken bicycles and smashed scooters.
